Abbott's corporate headquarters is located in Lake County, IL, at Abbott Park, a suburb 40 miles north of Chicago. Abbott also has many locations throughout the United States and the world. In the U.S., we have a significant presence in California (Alameda, Milpitas, Redwood City, Santa Clara and Temecula), Texas (Dallas) Ohio (Columbus), New Jersey (Princeton), Massachusetts (Worcester) and Puerto Rico. What if I have difficulty copying/pasting or attaching my resume to my profile? Read more »

You will have the ability to either upload your resume from the computer you are using, or copying/pasting directly into a form within the system. You may update your profile as you see fit and may have up to five different cover letters and resumes posted at any one time.

I was referred for a specific position and was not hired;
will you consider my resume for other opportunities? Read more »

We will consider you a candidate for any positions for which you directly apply. In addition, if there are other positions we feel you might be appropriate for, we will contact you directly to gauge your interest in that position.

What are the criteria for Abbott internships? Read more »

Intern selection is competitive and based on a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 point scale. Leadership abilities, extracurricular activities, relevant course work, and characteristics such as integrity, innovation, initiative, teamwork, and adaptability are considered. Students must have completed at least one year of college and must be enrolled in school the fall season following the potential internship.

What intern/co-op assignments are available? Read more »

Internship assignments vary by year and by discipline. However, no matter what the assignment, it is guaranteed to be real work that will benefit both you and the company.

How do I apply for a position if Abbott is not coming to my school to recruit? Read more »

If Abbott is not scheduled to recruit at your school, you can still apply for an employment opportunity by applying online.

If I give my resume to a recruiter on campus, do I still need to submit it online? Read more »

Yes, submitting your resume online allows other recruiters to have access to it also.

Will my internship lead to full-time employment? Read more »

We select talented undergraduate and graduate students with the intention of hiring them as full-time employees - evaluating candidates based on grade point average, leadership abilities, communication skills and relevant coursework - the same criteria used for entry-level employee selection. At the end of the internship, full-time employment is not guaranteed, but interns may apply to open positions.

What benefits are offered to interns? Read more »

Interns are eligible for the following Abbott benefits:

  • Pay for each company-recognized holiday during time of employment.
  • Product purchase at a discount.
  • Time accrued toward the annuity retirement plan if later hired by Abbott.
  • Participation in cash profit sharing if you are employed at Abbott on November 15.
  • As a temporary employee, interns are not eligible for medical, dental, hospitalization or accident insurance. Job related injuries, however, are covered under Workers' Compensation for paid interns.
