GILLIAN MURTAGH, M.D.

Areas of Expertise: cardiology, cardiovascular risk, cardiovascular biomarkers (including troponin), cardiovascular imaging, cardio-oncology (cardiovascular care of cancer patients), cardiovascular diagnostics, cardiovascular health in women, acute coronary syndrome, clinical trials.

Gillian Murtagh, M.D., M.B.A., is a cardiologist and Director of Cardiology and Pulmonology, medical affairs for Abbott’s Core diagnostics business. She manages clinical research activities, internal and external educational programs, and business development projects in the cardiovascular and pulmonary space.

Gillian received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Trinity College, Dublin. She completed her residency in internal medicine and specialty training in cardiology in Ireland, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the University of Chicago Medical Center. She joined Abbott in 2015.

Gillian has been involved in cardiovascular biomarker research for over twenty years. She has authored and co-authored multiple publications on cardiovascular biomarkers, imaging, cardiovascular care of women and cancer patients among other topics and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in cardiovascular care of cancer patients.
