Once you join our organization, our comprehensive Onboarding process will help you plan a successful transition. You and your manager will develop a customized Onboarding plan, where you will identify information, resources and people who are key to your success.

Grownth Plan and Performance Excellance

Annually, employees participate in Growth Planning and Performance Excellence - formal processes where employees have open career discussions with their managers and set a path for growing in their current role. This is done through a three-step process:

  • Setting Expectations - setting meaningful goals that align to business strategy
  • Assessment/Feedback - receiving continuous feedback on your performance from your manager and others
  • Growth and Development - discussing, documenting and acting upon a plan that supports your growth needs

 

Training and Networking

We provide a wide range of classroom and e-learning courses so that you can develop your skills and grow your career. And our Employee Networks help employees focus on career development, mentoring, informal networking and provide unique opportunities for employees to gain experiences and develop leadership skills needed to advance.

Health and Fitness

Our promise for life begins with the people who make it a reality, and as a global health care company, we are passionate about helping our employees and their families lead healthy, productive lives. Wellness programs at Abbott help employees lead healthy lives and motivate employees to be their best both physically and mentally. Exercise Across Abbott, a four-week, team-based fitness program that promotes physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle, spans all Abbott sites and rewards team members with points for physical activity. More than 11,900 employees participated in the program in 2010. Additional wellness activities offered around the world include flu immunizations, on-site fitness centers, health club membership subsidies and/or discounts, sports and recreation clubs and health screenings. Additionally, there may be other programs and offerings that are location specific.

 

Managing Work and Family

At Abbott, we offer flexible work options for certain positions, including telecommuting, compressed work weeks, part-time work, and job-sharing. Flexible options enable employees to perform their best while at work and still manage family and personal responsibilities.
