Professional and Management Development Programs

Abbott's Professional and Management Development Programs (PDP/MDPs) offer early-in-career professionals (typically recent university graduates) the opportunity to build a broad foundation of work experience and business knowledge. Our programs offer on-the-job learning while promoting leadership skill development and professional growth. PDP/MDP participants are given the opportunity to build an extraordinary career at a dynamic company – working side-by-side with others who share a commitment to improving people's lives.
The programs enable participants to explore career opportunities and experiences through a formal two to three year program, based on the function or discipline, with assignments in different areas of the business. PDP/MDP assignments are structured to ensure that participants develop key functional and leadership competencies through exposure to a wide range of projects and experiences.
A primary objective of the Professional and Management Development Programs is to prepare talent for future key positions within Abbott through experiential learning, formal training and aggressive performance management. Coaching and mentoring by our business leaders is a fundamental element of the program.
