Abbott Statement
Kaletra Pediatric Tablet Filing in Thailand
July 27, 2007 — Abbott will file the pediatric formulation of Kaletra® tablets in Thailand, pending acceptance by the Thai government.
Given the needs in the developing world, Abbott intends to make the new lower-strength Kaletra pediatric tablet available globally as broadly as the already-approved tablet, which at 150 countries, will be the most broadly registered HIV medicine in developing countries.
As with all developing world countries, Abbott is pursuing registration of the tablet as quickly as possible where HIV is prevalent: Brazil, India, China and Africa, etc. Abbott will submit their applications, however, it is up to governments to accept the filings and to provide access to patients.
Abbott continues to have discussions with the government of Thailand regarding the adult formulation of Aluvia® (lopinavir/ritonavir).
