Abbott's Longford, Ireland, Facility Celebrates Delivery of One-Billionth Test

January 2012

Abbott's Longford, Ireland, facility has been manufacturing medical diagnostic tests for global markets since 2005. The site recently achieved a major milestone with the delivery of its one-billionth test. Even more remarkable, the milestone was reached in just six years. Longford Site Director Stefan Molitor attributes this accomplishment to the facility's highly skilled staff of more than 320 employees.

"There is no doubt that the skills of our Longford workforce and their commitment to quality and continuous improvement were central to our reaching this pivotal landmark in such a short time period," said Molitor.

The Longford site produces a wide range of tests for thyroid function, fertility, cardiology, renal and metabolic markers. The tests are used in hospitals and other health care facilities in more than 130 countries around the world.
