STEWARDSHIP

ENSURING INGREDIENT SAFETY AND PROCESS QUALITY

As a leader in global healthcare, our goal is to create and develop products that preserve and enhance lives. A fundamental focus of this goal is ensuring that our products are safe and effective, and that they deliver the intended benefits.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

OUR SUPPLIERS ARE HELD TO THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF QUALITY

Many governments around the world have been implementing new laws and regulations to control the use of certain chemical substances in manufactured products. Some of these laws include:

  • • The Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH)
  • • Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
  • • The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants

We ask our suppliers to complete a Restricted Substance Query that includes chemical composition data for all parts provided to Abbott. In cases where complete information is not currently available, the Query requests composition data for the chemical substances currently identified under the regulatory initiatives mentioned above.

For questions on restricted substances, contact Abbott.REACH@abbott.com, our external mailbox monitored daily for communications from customers and suppliers.

NON-U.S. SUPPLIERS

READ ABOUT OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-U.S. SUPPLIERS

Abbott is a participant in the U.S. Customs & Border Protection supply chain security program called the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). Participation in C-TPAT requires Abbott to ensure that its overseas suppliers have security processes and procedures in place to protect the integrity of our supply chain.

As valued business partners, all non-U.S. suppliers are required to complete the Supply Chain Security Questionnaire and sign the accompanying Memorandum of Understanding, or provide evidence of their own company’s participation in C-TPAT or an equivalent supply chain security program. Failure to complete the security questionnaire may jeopardize our ability to purchase and import materials from your company. Completed surveys and questions regarding the C-TPAT requirements should be submitted C-TPAT@abbott.com

A shorter version of the questionnaire is available upon request and will be provided to suppliers who are determined to be “low risk.” The risk assessment will be based on the value and frequency of shipments, country of export, mode of transportation, and other relevant factors.
