Proud to nourish the smallest among us

Employees who are also preemie parents share their experiences with Abbott’s preterm infant nutrition products.

Babies born early can face unique challenges, and good nutrition is essential to helping preterm babies grow. Feeding premature infants breast milk offers critical benefits.  But when breast milk is not an option, or when their doctors decide supplemental nutrition is required, preterm infant nutrition products can deliver the calories and nutrients these tiny babies need.1

At Abbott’s manufacturing facility in Columbus, Ohio, our employees understand the importance of science-based preterm infant nutrition on both a professional and personal level as they make products that help doctors in neonatal intensive care units nourish their patients.

For a number of colleagues, this work is deeply personal. In addition to working on our preterm infant nutrition products, they’re preemie parents themselves. They’ve spent time in the NICU, experiencing firsthand the uncertainty and hope that define those early days. Abbott’s nutrition products also helped nourish their own children, bringing meaning and purpose to their work.

“Knowing that we have an impact on the smallest customers – including my son, who was born at three pounds – it’s really unlike anything else,” said one Columbus-based colleague.
