What is Team Abbott?

Team Abbott is a community of individuals who champion health through running and have been impacted by health challenges and refused to let those challenges define them.

Who is selected to run with Team Abbott?

We are looking for runners who have strong health stories, who exemplify a determination to not let health hold them back and who can help us inspire others to take control of their health.

Applicants must be U.S. residents and aged 18 or older. Abbott employees are not eligible to apply for Team Abbott or receive a Team Abbott bib but are encouraged to enter Abbott’s internal bib lottery for a chance to run an Abbott World Marathon Major.

What do I get if I am selected to run with Team Abbott?

Runners who are selected to run with Team Abbott will get access to participate in select Abbott World Marathon Majors. Abbott provides its runners with experts from both within and outside of the company to help runners prepare for their best race. Runners will get expert training advice from a variety of health experts such a nutritionists, scientists, professional athletes and more to help prepare them for their start line. Abbott will host virtual and in person events to engage with runners and help them meet their fellow Team Abbott runners.

If I have already applied to run with Team Abbott – or if I have already received a race bib through Team Abbott – can I apply again?

If you registered to run with Team Abbott prior to [CONTEST LAUNCH DATE] or received a race entry through Team Abbott for any marathon prior to the 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon, you are eligible to re-apply for a chance to run up to two marathons with Team Abbott for fall 2026 or 2027 races.

When will I find out if I will receive a bib to race with Team Abbott?

Applicants will be notified by e-mail that they have been selected to receive a Team Abbott bib at least three months before a race.

How many races can I run with Team Abbott?

Because of the number of runners who have expressed interest in running with Team Abbott, applicants have the chance to run up to two marathons with Team Abbott during the Contest Period.

Will Abbott cover any of my travel expenses to participate in Team Abbott?

Due to the high number of runners who participate in Team Abbott, we are unable to provide financial assistance to travel for any of the Team Abbott events and races. If you are selected for a Marathon and are no longer able to attend that race, please work with the team member who contacts you to see if there is availability to participate in another Team Abbott marathon.
